August 9, 2014: Main Street to the Rockies Art Festival.

Today we’re heading to downtown Frisco to take in the Main Street to the Rockies Art Festival.  As with the BBQ Challenge back in June, Main Street is blocked off for the event.

Many local, regional, and national renowned artists are showcasing their work.  There are vibrant colored modern paintings, bronze sculptures, metal sculptures, mixed media, delicate pastels, photography, jewelry designers, glass, and more.  A lot of talented people are represented here today, but a couple of artists really catch our interest – both happen to be professional photographers.  Both artists gave me permission to snap some pictures of their work and use it on my blog.  I hope you will take a few minutes to go to their websites and view their work.

Chris Gug, Fine Art Photographer of the Underwater World.

Chris is my favorite artist at the festival.  His underwater photographs are simply magnificent – especially for a man with no formal photography training.  He lived on a boat in Caribbean for 7 years and also 2 years on a boat in Papua New Guinea diving and shooting photos daily to master the art.  He is indeed a master of his trade!  See his full line of photographs at Gug Underwater.

Zsuzsanna Luciano: Conservation Fine Art Photographer.

Zsuzsanna’s bio says it best.  Here’s an excerpt:

“Many of Zsuzsanna’s works will appear to be three dimensional or as if they viewer is looking out of a window or standing in front of a canal or in front of a vast canyon.  Her art is aimed and focused at saving what nature has to offer, not altering it or changing it.  Zsuzanna’s art is one with true purpose, to save for many future generations what is quickly disappearing before us today.”

Check out her beautiful work at Zsuzsanna Luciano.

We reach the far end of the artist exhibits.  Jack finds another art form that he loves more than anything we saw today – the fly fishing shop.

A long conversation ensues with Joe at Blue River Anglers.  They exchange fish stories.  Joe’s got some real doozies!  He also suggested some good fishing spots for Jack to check out.  Equipped with that information, I suspect we’re going to be taking a road trip to check ‘em out.

Until next time – be safe.
