Goodye Utah and hello Arizona.
We leave Utah this morning
and skirt the top of Arizona to reach Page, Arizona and Lake Powell. This looks like a great place to spend a few
days. I checked campgrounds as we drove
this direction – only 2 within the park near Page. Wahweep is near the marina, looks really
nice, and it’s within the park so shouldn’t be too expensive. Lone Rock looks nice, right along the banks
of Lake Powell, but on a sandy beach.
We’d sure hate to get stuck in sand, so we opt for Wahweep Campground. $48.00 later … and thinking we’ve fallen into
the lap of luxury, we discover it’s just another regular campground. One night of this is enough. We decide to take a drive and check out Lone
Rock.
There’s lots of deep sand, but
also areas with solid rock that’s pretty easily accessed. We know where we’re heading tomorrow morning.
